day 20 - memories....

putting all these behind us...the rain came today and it's all gone....ne me quitte pas!

NOT!!! bring on the sunshine, i say.

day 19 - it ain't over 'til it's over

old man winter lets it known to mankind, at least us, that he ain't leaving anytime soon even though we're sick and tired of the cold. last night it snowed but this is all we got. but it was darn cold, -9 C, the windchill factored in, -17 C. i don't mind so much the cold, it's the wind and the ice that i dislike.

day 18 - women's hockey OLYMPIC GOLD!

day 17 - we call this...

winter?! we had a snow storm overnight and this was what we woke up to, some miserable snow. - all 5 cm accumulation.

day 16 - mosaic

this mosaic piece is on display at the "mosaic shoppe"; been admiring it every time i pass by. then i saw the price tag: $699!!! now i wonder, would it cost more for me to buy it or learn how to make it? nah, i'll probably get over it in a few more weeks.

day 15 - a tiger?!?

of course this is not a real tiger. it's from Wonderball, a charity event at Harbourfront from two years back. but i want to post it because i felt bad for that tiger at the zoo that died while being operated on. for some reasons i've been dreaming about tigers. gotta look up the meaning of those dreams.

day 14 - the flag

it's a cold day outside, but the sun is shining so bright it might as well be spring. and out in the west they are pining for snow which normally we never want, especially here in the city. but it's a lazy day and the only good thing i've done is watch simon and garfunkel. "i am a rock, i am an island..." (so what's that got to do with the title "the flag"? i don't know, it's on my window sill and it looks beautiful in its red and white. so there.

day 13 - flower arrangement

bamboo, carnation, orchid and some other purple flowers on a clear glass vase. $50.00 plus taxes and delivery. i cleaned my apartment just so i could clear the counter and i can display this arrangement. wonder how long it will last? it's very relaxing to look at it while watching the olympics.

day 12 - towel monkey

the week is too long nothwithstanding that it was a short week in toronto. it's not too cold but it leaves me wanting to go on a boat, say like a cruise ship and just laze around on the deck and be kissed by the ocean wind. ah, to be so free.

day 11 - dart vader

dart vader, where art thine shoes? and your ear is showing.

day 10 - a light fixture

this is one of the smaller chandeliers in the ballroom of the royal york hotel. the lights are electric but they look like real candle lights.

day 9 - tikoy

tikoy is the filipino term for a chinese rice cake, a concoction of finely ground sweetened glutinous rice; you slice it into thin strips, dip the strips in beaten egg and fry it until it browns. and you drink it with hot tea. this delicacy is available only during the chinese new year in toronto, but in manila, philippines, it is available almost all year round, but most especially during the Christmas season and the chinese new year.

by the way, this one in the picture is about a year and three months old but it still looks good. i will eat it on the weekend. if i continue to post my one photograph a day, it means i am still alive!

day 8 - branchin' out

day 7 - the old and the gaudy

this beautiful building on the danforth used to be a bank (imperial bank?) until money mart took over. the yellow just puts a damper on the personality of the building.

day 6 - do a double double take

sign to the east on danforth from my building. good old tim horton's. hmmmm must try that english muffin sandwich. ah yes, i can't, unless it's fish or something other than meat. but isn't the ad rather assuring? that wherever you go in this city, it's always there, it's always fresh.

day 5 - what the heck is this?

what beasts are these?
well, they're not beasts, they're supposed to be kermit the frog slippers (wonder if the manufacturer had a license to use kermit's likeness - it was made in china so most probably NOT!); in any case, i won't be caught dead in these nor could you pay me to wear these unless you pay me half a million dollars or more. by the way, i saw these on a sidewalk sale at the yonge-eglinton subway.

day 4 - rings

big rings are in vogue these days. michelle is the pink rose and barb is the diamond glitter.

day 3 - you love me! you really love me!

there's a figurine on top of my kitchen cupboard of a couple of drunken beggars, titled "celebration"; the man on one knee holding the woman's shoe and pouring whisky in it, the woman seemingly ecstatic. he might have proposed and she has accepted.

day 2 - what it seems

no, it's not the entrails of a dead animal. this is the vegetable lasagna that jimbo made tonight. see the piece of sliced mushroom and two pieces of zucchini. i used to make the same dish, only mine looked better.
