day 1084 - back to school 2013

 

first day of school today. it has to be soooo difficult for the students as it was a long weekend of fun and parties and all that nice things, and then to have to wake up early to catch the bus, or the school bus, so mommy or daddy can get to work on time after dropping them off. but not to worry, our moose crossing guard will make sure everyone is safely crossing the street and keeping those mad drivers at bay. and i them drivers see the waving stop sign if they ever take their eyes off their blackberries and mind the roadway. be safe, folks!



day 1021 - my stand-in

day 1205 - oh, it's just a moose!

a second floor deck? pfft! then where would you put your $7,000 moose?

day 1099 - pianola

at the rainbow cinema's lobby. the manager was quite generous in letting me take photos of this beautiful piano. it's a really old thing, the sign says, (which i had placed on the bench there, as you can see,) "amateurs should not even touch" this piano..."

well, someday, i'm going to have this baby!

day 1088 - mini-hyacinths

at the allen gardens, the bloom at full hilt.

day 1064 - fate was kind

i was taking shots of the icy ridges along the water and walking with the nikon in my face, i didn't feel right away that i was walking on a slippery patch. then i heard a small crack and that's when it clicked, i looked down and this portion of the ridges was slowly breaking. i almost fell but managed to hop on to the snow/sand, to balance my fall, i actually extended my right arm and in the process clicked the shutter and this was what i'd have fallen on to: angry lake waters. no one would've seen me probably and this would not have been posted.

day 1040 - ice falling

off the cover of this stall. we have had a lot of snow during the new year, quite late for the white Christmas people had been pining for.

day 1039 - new year's dinner set up

after two weeks of harried holiday  schedules partner and i finally got to sit down and have a relaxing dinner. and for the first time, we got to enjoy the newly-made napkins, the ones with mitred corners. when you have good china and eat good food, you must have cloth napkins, and yes, with mitred corners. yay!

day 1038 - a winter's day

three of my photographs were published by the newspaper 'hellas news', a greek publication with offices in toronto and new york. the photos can be found in the back cover of the thick holiday supplement of the paper. quite chuffed with meself, obviously. if you have a chance, get your free copy (at least i think they're free). i'll be showing it to my friend frankie who is a bonafide grecian goddess who will read the captions for me. my thanks to the good people at hellas news!

day 1026 - island berries

went to the islands today for my project. along the boardwalk, there were lots of trees with these red berries.

day 1025 - the holy family and the not so holy

i purposely shot this: an enclosed nativity scene in front of the old toronto city hall and the family that stopped to look at their shopping bag near the display. the child was caught looking at the camera while the father is blurry from moving too much.
