day 102 - shoes...summer shoes

pretty heeled shoes for my wide ugly feet...but who cares, i see women with much worse looking feet than mine and they wear unflattering shoes. it's all in the wearer's bearing and the clothes worn. ah bastaya! if i had nice feet and could wear any style of shoes, i'd be worse than imelda marcos, i swear to you.

day 101 - mango for breakfast

yes! i had, rather, i am having one of the suckers this morning for breakfast. every bit is so sweet, you won't believe it. and by the way this kind is from ataulfo (mexico) and is very similar to the original philippine variety (i say original because when i went to mexico a long time ago, i learned that the first mango trees in mexico were brought there by the spanish friars from the philippines. the philippine variety is much sweeter and softer and the skin much thinner. but this one is close enough since it is cheaper to import from mexico than from the philippines. i was told. my facts might be wrong. in any case, i love ripe mangoes!!!!

you can serve ripe mango with prosciutto (spelling?) ham, to make for an attractive and delicious appetizer; or serve it with shrimp cocktail. you can also eat it with steamed sticky rice and soy sauce, or you can make a nice mango chiffon pie with it.

day 100 - wow!

wow! for the 100th day and 100 photographs posted. i know i have some not so nice photos posted but the sum total is still that i have disciplined myself to post everyday, notwithstanding those few times i had been late because of my connection problems. i think from now on i will strive to post better pictures with better subjects. wow! also for the mangoes which i will be eating tonight and tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. wow! and here's to the next 100.

day 99 - mystery print

it's a fabric print. sometimes you get a dress and all you remember of it is the colour. one day, after so many washings, you realize what those prints are. and that's what happened.

day 97 - a pink Bentley

my niece was raving about a "pink Bentley" whilst we were at the parking lot of price choppers on mccowan and ellesmere this afternoon. so i took a picture. it's not really pink, it's salmon pink or pink bordering on ecru. see the mercedes behind? the mercedes is white, the bentley is salmon pink.

day 96 - another work of art

this reminds me of a communist politburo. it's kind of dark and morbid, what with the blood on the table. either someone not in the picture had been sentenced to death, or the man sitting down at the table had been sentenced to drink some blood and he didn't like the taste. eeeekkkk!!

day 95 - white climatis

light lavender, dark purple, pink, mauve, and dark maroon. i've seen yellow but first time i've seen white climatis. pure white, angel white climatis. wonder if there is orange? c'est possible, bien sur!

day 94 - does this look appetizing to you? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CYNCH!

tiny boconcini cheese with pesto sauce. cole slaw with dried cranberry. pineapple, carrot, celery and jello. all made from scratch and served on a white and blue china plate. they all tasted good and when you're vegetarian and there's nothing else to eat but these and a portion of a dead animal, you choose the non-descript salads and sides. everyone else can have the dead animal. eeeek!

day 93 - daffodils - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAMMIE

for mother's day, my niece sammie bought me two pots of wildly growing daffodils from the corner store (well, it's called the "local supermarket") and partner put them on the window sill. i've been having nightmares with the potted plants in there - giant ants and giant spiders, oy! so this morning i cut the flowers and asked partner to put the pots away in the front yard. some of the flower stems are bent and when i put them in the vase, this is how they appeared. i'm not too crazy about daffodils but the way they arranged themselves i thought they're quite nice. i have to remind myself not to go near them as they have this cat-pee like smell.

day 92 - work of art or art of work?

an art hanging on my friend virginia's living room wall. i don't get it but as intriguing as it looks, it does have a total...art-sy feel and look.

day 91 - CN rising

i was sitting in the car, in the parking lot at leslie and lakeshore, waiting when i suddenly looked up to see the CN tower as if it was rising from above the trees. it's as if it was saying, "hey, look at me, i'm here!"

day 90 - tabloid fodder

you can find this photograph in one of the inside pages of the toronto sun newspaper published today: go-go dancers for a presidential candidate's (in the Philippines) final campaign rally. yes, way to make the voters make a wise choice. MABUHAY!!

day 89 - cut outs

carrots, strawberries, animals, etc. cutouts, even people cutouts. they're everywhere!!

day 88 - business signs

this business sign says "do bamboo". they sell t-shirts made from bamboo. "do bamboo?" but i always wondered how the "bamboo" cloth feels against the skin. i should go there one day and try on one. DO BAMBOO?

day 87 - art on the danforth event

the danforth was invaded with large colorful cut outs for the second weekend in a row. this is the coxwell library.

day 86 - gorgeous!

my daughter-in-law's shoes she wore at her son's first communion. i don't know how she was able to walk in them, but don't you think those shoes are gorgeous?!

day 85 - stained glass window

taken from a church during a mass. the little church has stained glass windows all around. i supposed i should have taken pics of all the windows.

day 84 - thirty-three (33) candles all in a row

..or all around the cake. this cake is a combination first communion for my grandson derrick and 33rd birthday for his father frederick. so this is how a cake looks like with 33 candles in them. i tell you, the the boys had a hard time blowing those candles for their father. it'll be harder, i guess, for a 90-year old to be blowing cake candles....

day 83 - this tree is everywhere!!!!

day 82 - what a lovely way to dress up a tree

the mosaic shoppe on the danforth adorned this tree in front of it with little mosaic balls that glisten in the bright sunshine. soon, though, the balls will be too small to be seen when the leaves are full blown. summer's just around the corner, please and thank you.

day 81 - danforth on a gorgeous spring day

13 degrees with no wind, cloudless sky and the sun shining so bright...perfect spring day. now, if we can keep it like this for about a year, everyone would be so happy.

day 80 - in the early morning rain

day 79 - in the cool, cool, cool of the evening

it's end of april and there's no end in sight for the cold weather. this picture is quite deceptive in that the temperature is at 3 degrees with the wind blowing, although here it seems like we're in the middle of summer. summer already!

day 78 - ivy

cold it may seem, but the days are definitely getting longer and the ivies are surely growing.

day 77 - sooner or later...

sooner or later, the warm weather will arrive. it will have to, for the trees need to have leaves and the flowers need to bloom; otherwise, what leaves will fall in autumn, and what flowers will wither in the cold? so we wait...until it comes.

day 76 - flower arrangement #5

i don't know about this arrangement; it doesn't really strike me as nice, but the monotone colors seem to work. i should go around and hunt for more flowers, the magnolias are particularly beautiful this time of year.

a very simple table centerpiece for today. nothing else catches my fancy these days. but these orchids are quite lovely, aren't they?

day 74 - struggling to be free

it's almost the end of april and still mother nature couldn't decide whether it's going to be warm, hot, hotter or cold. well, today is cold, 13 degrees but with wind. please, i am tired of lugging my stupid coats, wearing my geeky thermal vests as well as my dumb pantyhose. let it be summer already!!!! for like 12 months!!!

day 73 - travel packing

there's a word i haven't heard in a long while: pennywise. mother's day is just around the corner so get mom a bottle of perfume (if she's into scents) at pennywise fragrances. i only see really big bottles, like giant bottles of perfume, in there. like a person could probably just slide inside the bottle. :-))

"back in motion" is a chiropractor's clinic. but see next door on the left, there's also a chiropractor sign on the door but you can see the steps inside. what if you have a terrible back ache and you need to go up those steps - around 30 at least for that size building - just to see the chiropractor? there goes your back!

in fact it was supposed to have rained since last night. but the sun is still shining albeit the sky's a tad cloudy. okay, i will venture out - to the office - and see about this weather.

this bird was playing in my brother's front yard and no matter what noise we made by the car, it remained unfrazzled; when we started taking pictures, it just moved about like a model, as if it knew there were cameras aimed at it.

moseyed on down to jewel/osco to get eggs and milk; but instead i found cheap but very lovely flower arrangement for my sister-in-law's easter dinner table.
