day 863 - flotilla

sailboats galore at the lake today. too hot inlands but beautiful on the waters. and i have to view this from the office!

day 862 - vintage car

came upon a wedding at the lutheran church near the gardens. the father of the bride is driving this beautiful vintage car to the front of the church where the couple awaits. the couple drove off, the groom at first not knowing what to do with clutch and such, probably, because the car coughed and died twice before he jerkingly drove away into wherever. at the back there's a sign that says "just married" and attached are tin cans which really made for a loud clanging sound as they left. i love my camera!

day 861 - wanna buy a bridge?

a painting on the wall of east side mario's restaurant where we had a late lunch/early dinner today. shows a schematic map of new york city. here's the part of the brooklyn bridge and note the two men at the top. one says: wanna buy a bridge? and the other: how much? hilarious!

day 860 - peace lily

it's in abundance at the allan gardens.

continuing with the garden tour today, the first house i went to had this statue/vase of exquisite orchids in the entrance way. wow!

day 833 - what do you see?

i went on a tour of rich people's gardens. this is the walk-through to the back garden of 23 avondale. a visitor asked me, after i took a lot of shots of this door, what did i see that i liked so much about this door. i replied that the door is actually ordinary. but the windows flanking it made it an interesting visual - the arched top of frames, the vines creeping on the wall, the texture of the wall all combined to make the entrance/doorway interesting. she examined the doorway and after a few seconds, nodded her head and said that she didn't 'see' although she was looking at it. the lady then proceeded to follow me everywhere i went to see what else interested me.

these young women were promoting westjet's promo fares to new york and were just too happy to pose for everyone who cared to snap their photos.

this is a sneak shot i took of the two girls who were hamming it up alternately with their iphone and camera. i have volunteered to take their pics together before this, and they still wanted to have more pictures. so i took a snap when i saw the playful one really hamming it up.

this belongs to one of the assistants at the office. yesterday, the flower in the middle was just a tightly closed bud. it opened up overnight and today she has this beautiful natural arrangement a la ikebana! beautiful!

this momma duck has 10. where's poppa duck? cavorting with another poppa out in the middle of the pond. i wonder if they're both poppas of these brood? hmmm...maybe we should ask mrs. momma.

day 814 - good morning from niagara falls

the view from last night changes to this this morning. less traffic, more falls! (two hours before the unfortunate incident where a man jumped over the protective railing forcing city officials to close the viewing section to the tourists so rescuers can do their job of rescuing some stupid idiot. arrest the stupid, i say, regardless of what injuries he sustained.
