day 956 - the lake - view from work

a porter plane about to land, a tanker about to reach its destination, beautiful white clouds and the water is blue all around, a nice day in toronto.

day 936 - sailboats

it's a beautiful day to go sailing, never mind if it's a tad cold. now i discovered that my dSLR can take in the natural colours of a scenery even when i take the shot from inside our office building. that's great. now i have to learn how to eliminate the reflections.

day 933 - night falls

reflections on the lake, early evening.

day 931 - day is done

i was in a rush to come here as i saw the clouds were glowing red from the sunset. i had to take a walk and the bus was slow in coming, then another ten-minute walk to the marina. by the time i got there, this is all i could capture, silhouettes of the masts but at least there's a tinge of golden glow, a duck and the end boat coming back to moor.

day 915 - the lunchtime crowd

not a lot of people at the lake today during lunch even though once again it was a perfect summer day!

day 881 - sundown at the boardwalk

lotsa things going on: a jogger decided to do his push ups right there at the pier, as 10 kayaks passed by and of course, the sailboats were out in that beautiful weather.

day 874 - pink umbrellas

at the sugar beach. aren't they lovely?

day 846 - a tall ship

the brigantine...waiting for passengers.

day 837 - by the lakeside

a zoom on the sailboats plying the lake this afternoon. it was a beautiful day for sailing.

day 822 - how many can you count?

this momma duck has 10. where's poppa duck? cavorting with another poppa out in the middle of the pond. i wonder if they're both poppas of these brood? hmmm...maybe we should ask mrs. momma.

day 795 - it's a plane!

yes, there's also a bird, right in front of its nose. but you must look closely.

day 746 - the restaurant ship

on my hunt for letters of the alphabet, passed by captain john's and had a glance at the menu. the fares sounded good and i was surprised by the prices. in fact they have lunch specials for just under $8. that is not bad! and i resolve to go there one of these days for lunch.

day 729 - winter boardwalk

there was beautiful sunshine. but it's still cold by the boardwalk.

day 728 - glorious!

it is a beautiful day, mostly. at the islands, the water has a special sheen in its surface and of course the birds are out in full force once again, hoping for scraps that humans inadvertently (or not) left behind.

day 701 - icy waters

the lake froze the week we had a freeze warning and it slowly thawed, the ice layer thinned out. but then it got to the freezing mark again and the poor ducks have nowhere to swim now. this photo captures the freezing cold.

day 673 - bird attack

at the boardwalk at lunch, a woman threw scraps of food at the water and suddenly out of nowhere these seagulls appeared and swarmed the water. eerie but i managed to take a few shots. turned out it was a set up for her husband who was taking photos of the birds. hah! i'd have called the cops on them had i not gotten a few good shots.

day 635 - beam me up, scottie!
